Application Process

South Holland SD 150 provides a district funded Pre K program. The program is offered to 3-5-year-old children who reside in South Holland, participate in the screening process, and meet the eligibility criteria.

Screening Process

Screenings are held annually in the spring of each year for a seat in the upcoming school year. Any family interested in the pre-kindergarten program is required to complete the registration process prior to participating in the screening process. Pre-Kindergarten screenings are conducted yearly by district staff members using the Developmental Indicator for the Assessment of Learning (DIAL 4) screening tool. The screenings take about an hour and consist of a unique station approach.  Children rotate through stations and are evaluated by different examiners in the areas of speech/language development, hearing, vision, motor skills, concept development, social development, and oral language proficiency.

For the Pre-K Application process, children must be 3 or 4 years of age on or before September 1. There is a maximum quota of 15 students in a classroom per session (AM and PM). There is only 1 classroom so the maximum number of Pre-K students in our program is 30 students.

A completed application including some of the following is required:

  • Child's original birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Proof of residency
  • Medical Form (signed by your child's physician)

  • Once registration has been completed and verified, you will receive a call to confirm your time slot preference and a date for your child to be screened to determine if there are any early intervention needs/concerns.
